Wrap it up: 5 ways to wear a scarf.

One scarf, five completely different looks. Grab yours, stand in front of a mirror, and try each one. They take about ten seconds apiece.

1

The Classic Drape

Best for: easy, everyday
  1. Find the middle of the scarf.
  2. Lay it around the back of your neck so both ends hang evenly in front.
  3. Leave it loose, or tuck the ends inside your coat on windy days.

Wear it with: a shacket, a long coat or a cozy pullover sweater.

2

The Parisian Knot

Best for: polished, dinner and work
  1. Fold the scarf in half, end to end, so one side is a loop.
  2. Put it around your neck with the loop on one side and the loose ends on the other.
  3. Pull both loose ends through the loop and slide it up until it feels snug.

Wear it with: a blazer, a fitted sweater or your favorite denim jacket.

3

The Front Triangle

Best for: blanket scarves and cozy days
  1. Fold a square scarf corner to corner into a triangle.
  2. Hold it with the point down in front, across your chest.
  3. Cross the ends behind your neck, bring them back to the front, and tuck or let them hang.

Wear it with: a solid sweater and jeans. Let the scarf be the star.

4

The Double Wrap

Best for: the coldest Wisconsin days
  1. Drape the scarf so one end is much longer than the other.
  2. Wrap the long end all the way around your neck twice.
  3. Tuck both ends in, or let them peek out at the front.

Wear it with: a puffer or wool coat, plus a pom hat and mittens.

5

The Belted Shawl

Best for: dressing up a simple outfit
  1. Open the scarf all the way and drape it over your shoulders like a shawl.
  2. Let both ends hang straight down the front.
  3. Cinch it at your waist with a skinny belt over the scarf.

Wear it with: a fitted top, leggings or skinny jeans, and tall boots.

Three tips we swear by

Mix, don't match

Plaid scarf with a solid sweater, or a solid scarf over plaid. Never make two busy prints compete.

Color near your face

Your scarf sits right by your face, so pick the color that makes you glow. Red, berry and pine look great on almost everyone.

Earrings finish it

With a knot or a wrap, go for statement earrings and skip the necklace.
